DAMA opens the call for DAMA Cortos 2022, which will have a budget of 25,000 euros for the production of the winning short film
The winning project will be produced by Malvalanda, producer, among others, of the short film Madre, by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and the film El agente topo, by Maite Alberdi, nominated for the Oscar Awards.
The short film Ellos by Óscar Romero, winner of DAMA Cortos 2021, can be seen on 28 April in a special session of Cortogenia.
DAMA, the audiovisual copyright management organisation, is once again launching the DAMA Cortos competition, in collaboration with the production company Malvalanda, with the aim of supporting the production of short films.
The call for entries will remain open from 12 April until 31 May 2022. DAMA Cortos (#DAMACortos2022) will award the selected project with the production and subsequent distribution of the short film.
The scripts submitted must be original and unpublished. Those interested must be members of the organisation and may register their fiction proposals. Documentary or animation projects will not be considered. Each participant may submit a maximum of two scripts, with a maximum length of 10 minutes. In addition, the script can have a maximum of three locations in the same city and must be shot in a single day.
Four projects will be selected from among all the entries received to participate in a pitching session, which will also be attended by members of the DAMA Cortos jury, whose professionals will be announced shortly.
The same jury will select the winning project, which will be announced on the DAMA website and its social networks during the first week of September. The short film will be produced by Malvalanda and will have an estimated budget of 25,000 euros, including pre-production and post-production.
Registration must be done online, through damacortos@damautor.es. Those interested must be members of DAMA and send the script along with the rest of the required documentation, which can be consulted on the website.
This new call is launched precisely in the month in which the short film Ellos, winner of the previous edition of DAMA Cortos, written and co-directed by Óscar Romero, together with the recent winner of the Goya Néstor López, will be premiered. The screening will take place on April 28th in a special session of Cortogenia, at 20:30h at Cine Paz in Madrid.
